I have been going back-and-forth about what dining chairs to put around our farmhouse table. Currently, we have these dark brown wooden chairs, which were made by a small shop in the south and gifted to us…and I love them, but they aren’t the style I’m going for these days.
I’ve recently been intrigued by the modern farmhouse style. Instead of going FULL-ON farmhouse, the idea is to throw in modern elements – whether it be a light fixture, side table, chair or even wall art. I really, really dig it, too.
That said, I think I have finally found the style of chair I’ll be putting around our dining table – these mid-century modern dining room chairs.
…& this is too funny to me, because I always swore I would never ever go the mid-century route in our home (hellz naaawwww). Well, as do all things, my home decorating style is always slowly evolving. Of course, I won’t ever sway completely modern. I can’t. I love my chippy, rustic, old farmhouse look too much for that, but I am learning that I can appreciate a bit of modern thrown in to the mix.
So. I am currently on the hunt for an affordable set of these chairs. I can’t justify spending $200 on chairs – not when we still have some useable ones. I will be on the look-out though at flee markets, antique shops and the likes.

I am so excited about this. I can’t wait to get it all together and see how it enlivens the room. Now, the next step after that will be a new pendant light over our table. Our current situation is an outdated, brown, milky glass chandelier. It’s not my favorite, but eh. You work with what you’ve got sometimes!
I still want a new light like this one, though. ha ha.
I’ll be sure to update this post or share an additional post with all of my updates, because I mean, I will hardly be able to contain myself if I find the chairs I want. EEEEEEE. It’ll be too good.
